What is a safe level of ozone in a living area?

My room mate bought a ozone generator and it seems to be causing breathing trouble for me. She did not get an instruction manual as she bought it second hand and believes that the higher the setting the better job it is doing. She thinks that my throat and chest irrataion is in my head and I think she is completely out of touch. Feedback Please. Thanks
