Are onions really mammals?

That's what my science teacher is saying. But he comes to our 4th grade cl acting all weird, like he's drunk and hates us. He also says kangaroos are from outer space. Most of my clmates love him because he never igns homework but I think he thinks it's all a big joke. Or am I wrong, are onions mammals?
